So I have a 96 Civic LX with about 200k on it the only changes from stock is a header with the cat removed and 3 tens in the trunk.

about a month ago it would kind of die out but not stop running when pulling up to a stop if I gave it a moment or reved it a few times it would come back and run good again. sometimes it would lose power going down the road but that was much less offten. in the last 5k miles I have had to put in a coil and do the plugs and wires. while chasing this problem I have replaced the Map, TPS, and pulled and cleaned the IACV, cleaning the IACV really made a difference in it runs a bit better but did not get rid of the dieing out problem. Next part is the fuel filter as I have never changed it.

I am at a loss as to what else it could be, any one seen a problem like this before?

changed the fuel filter and it did run a bit smoother but the problem is still there.

spoke to a good honda mechanic and he suggested the main relay or the ignition module, going to try the relay tonight.

So I have changed the main relay and the ICM and no change.

I have gotten the problem to stay and not go away now. so sitting still I can ease on the throttle and it will rev up, but if I jab the peddle it will cut out and sometimes backfire. when I try to drive it will rev some but die out as it starts to pull.

I rented a fuel pressure tester and the pressure was in spec. watching the pressure it would sit solid as i reved the car slow and would jump around a bit if I jab the throttle. not sure if that means anything.

at a loss of what to try or do next.
