Bang for your buck.

Would like to see if anyone out there has any advice on the best Motor for the money to put in my 2000 Civic EX as it seems the D16 is limited in the amount of HP i can get out of it. And possibly have some locations to get these items from.

I have one question, the motor from a Integra, are they viable to put in Civics? B18 block i think. Even the LS/Vtec motor?

Not new to the tuner scene just not sure about all the ins and outs of Civics and i know they're are people that are very knowledable of this. Any help and words of wisdom are appreciated.

Re: Bang for your buck.

any acura, honda motor will fit for the most part its all interchangeable ! you just need new engine mounts and if your putting a B series motor in you need a B series transmission any D motor will work with any D tranny and B motor will work with any B tranny and so on, happy swapping !

b16 or b18 from a gsr
i would say theres more b18 out there than b16 since they only created the b16 for em1 for 2 years it wouldnt be that easy to find

Re: Bang for your buck.

thanks for the tips on what engine i should run, I like what I'm seeing about the B20 motor....how well does it handle boost or is it mainly a N/A motor?

Re: Bang for your buck.

The best swap to put in your car would be either a b series or a k series. Ifg you want a b series definitely go with the b18c1 gsr and if you want to go with k series which will get you really far would be either the k20a2, k24a1 or the k24a2.

To get some good power out of one of the k series motors you could get the k24a1 and go with the vtec killer setup. Buy a k24a1 and a rsx s tranni with k pro, then get the k24a1 head and take it apart and throw in k20a2 rockers, cams and valvetrain, with the bolt ons like header, exhaust and intake and for sure you will be putting down over 210 whp with a good tune. The funny thing the motor will not have any aftermarket parts, its all oem parts and it makes that much power.

Re: Bang for your buck.

I would love to do a K series swap with a 6spd. The only thing is its kind've expensive where as a B18b is about a $1500 swap and could easily boot some boost on it. Wish I had the cash to throw a k motor in there though

Re: Bang for your buck.

You can find a k24a1 for 600 and find a tranni for like 300. Then you can go to a salvage yard and get all of the parts to swap it in which get could be up to a 1000 to 1500. It wont be to much more than the gsr. It would be better and it would be fun swapping it in.

The k24s respond better to bolt ons and everything else better than any other motor and there torque is ridiculous. But the gsr would be a great swap to the have alot of potential.

Re: Bang for your buck.

I'm a stiffler for keeping my Civic functional. By this i meen i have to have power stearing, A/C, (how does cruise control work for a swap?). Will there be room for everything. I know people have problems with the intake manifold clearance I drive a 2000 EX would there be plenty of clearance. I'm torn as far as what motor I want to do...I love the idea of having a N/A engine just because of the reliability and the fact that I can blow the doors off of a stupid Mustang tool with pure motor. On the other hand who doesnt like boost? I can get a B18 swap for about 1500 bucks with everything mentioned at the begining of this post. I've got plenty of time to do research on what I want to do with my car since I'm not doing anything to it until I go to school in Arizona this winter. Just want to do it right and have a super clean ride that is fast since Fast is my ultimate goal. Thanks for the input and info
