Everyone knows that Tanabe and Apexi supply to most gains for our model civics. These 2 japanese companies know their stuff when building products for our Civics. I personally have the Tanabe R-Spec.

It's great, I get a lot of low to mid range power out of it. The exhaust just screams. Would you like me to email you a clip of what it sounds like? Post up your email for me to send it to you.

eh performance outta our civic with a cat back is hard to get.. so...
just grab whatever one that looks and sound good to you.
if you want loud, get the tanabe r-spec, if you want low profile look, grab the apexi WS
and dc sports is over priced. I've seen their assembly line and manufacturing house and there's quality there... but, its still overpriced.

Basically, all the exhaust systems will pretty much produce the same gains IF they are straight-through systems with mandrel bends.
The ex's exhaust is pretty good in the first place. It does hurt the topend performance. However, an aftermarket hurts the lowend just as bad. Depends on what you want out of the car.
Please don't be a moron and get an exhaust that is so loud that everyone thinks your an idiot.

I just returned my civic to stock after having a i/h/e setup. There is a noticeable difference in low-end power. However, imo, either way the low end SUCKS and the car is still slow as hay. It really sucks when you floor it and feel the low end gain, only to reach the upper rpms and feel the engine drag it's ***** through every gear afterwards.
Anyhow, don't let anyone fooll you, an i/h/e car will always be a hair quicker in race conditions. The driver determines whether that hair advantage will be realized.

How about Skunk2. Its a good looking exhaust that is all stainless steel. Their site sas 6 hp peak gain but even 5 would be good on our cars. Its the on e I want once I get enough money.

Of course Skunk2 is gonna say that they are gonna make lots of power.
Why not take advice from the people who actually own the exhaust systems.

Does anyone know anything about "Bullet Exhaust". i went to a exhaust place the other day statingt hat i wanted an exhaust that didnt make much of a sound at all.. and that would still add the horsepower, and he suggested a Bullet exhaust system. I was also wondering if you have an CAI would that take care of the low end power lost from the ehaust?

You will definatly lose low end power with a CAI. I've never seen a Bullet exhaust in action, just seen the adds.
With most mods for our car you lose low end power while gaining high end power. Our cars love the high end of the RPM spectrum.

IMO i would go with Tanabe, been dynoed to provide the highest gains in torque and HP for your cars, it has the most straight through desing of all the exhaust systems providing the numbers it does. Its all stainless steel so itll last through out the winters where as the other only the muffler is stainless steel so look at replacing the piping in years to come. Its a low deep throaty tone and hummms great in the high RPMS.
so basically i've heard everyone say that Tanabe Rspec is the best sounding exhaust out there for 01-up civics...i'm thinkin bout gettin one..anybody gota sound file or clip so i can listen to it? my AIM is Hunter9Feds and yahoo is soccer9king... IM me if you got a file for me to listen to or watch...peace

I would agree that the Tanabe sounds very good. Easily the best sounding of the exhausts out on the market.
However, it definitely robs the car of low-end grunt. I've tried the DC, Tanabe, Greddy and am now quite pleased with the HKS Hiper. Reason being is that it starts at the rear axle thus maintaining the smaller mid-section piping and the torque. However, its straight through design allows for better high RPM/high speed performance. It's quite subtle but a very high quality and powerful tone when you get on it.
Since our engines are not producing much anyways, there is no need to go with massive 2.25 or 2.5" diameter exhaust piping (found on today's aftermarket catback systems). Sure it looks good and sounds good but it really doesn't help the car. I'd highly recommend looking into the HKS Hiper axle-back exhaust for all-around performance and quality with a reasonable exhaust tone (no rice!).
