does a high octane give you more power? better gas mileage

no it usually gives you less power and more harmful engine deposits, since the motor was not designed to run it. unless you have a hi compression motor that needs higher octane gas, all you are doing is wasting money.

Only use higher octane if you hear a knock in the engine. Generally that's how you know if you need a higher octane.
