CAI Help

i'm looking for a cold air intake for my civic and one that can prevent my car from hydro locking. all i can find is just a cover for the filter, which just repels water not water proof. any ideas or CAI with a feature of some sort would be appreciated.

Re: CAI Help

just get a short ram and you'll be fine. There isn't any "waterproof" CAIs. The longer CAIs that reach low in the fender are the ones that can suck water, short rams aren't long at all and end higher up in the engine bay, making it harder to suck water.

Re: CAI Help

doesnt exist. if the filter is near the ground, it will suck in water. those bypass things dont work in the pipe either unless whole car is under water. and then you have bigger things to worry about.

Re: CAI Help

i suppose that was enough to persuade away from one, but what company would you choose from, Injen, Greddy, or K&N.

Re: CAI Help

theres aem too, and they have the best filters now (the dryflow synthetic paper). K&N makes good intakes and you can always buy an aem filter for it separate. i have weapon-r and their SW1 foam filter is also excellent.

Re: CAI Help

I have the weapon r secret weapon intake. Filter looks very nice and if you shift gears a certain way it sounds like you have a little turbo in there, like a slight whistle.

but if you don't get that, go with injen or aem. Not sure if all SRI's sound the same but they give the engine a deep tone when accelerating at 3k+ rpms.
