My car:
1999 Honda Civic LX
D16Y7
EK
Automatic

Looking to replace the automatic transmission with manual

Few questions:
1.) If i do a transmission swap, how much will it cost?
2.) Will i need a new gauge cluster or just gauge face?
3.) Will my insurance rates increase?
4.) Will there be any legal/paperwork etc.?
5.) I have the AEM 214P Cold Air Intake (for my 99 civic lx auto)- will this trans. change make it unusable?


Future upgrades:
-2.25" piping with Apex'i WS cat-back exhaust
-Short shifter
-Gauges and gauge face

I just want a tranny swap so I can save money on having to do a full engine swap or buying a new car...

Sorry I can't answer most of your questions for sure although I think I can make some good guesses. Maybe someone who really knows for sure with jump in.

But my advice really would be to sell the car and buy another with a stick. Chances are you will make money on the deal since automatics sell for more than manual cars. In addition, all your questions/concerns go away.
