Just bought a 97 Honda Civic and I'm new to owning one, I have lots of questions to ask!!! And really hope I could get some help.
P.S. I know ppl don't like answering questions to newbies because the new member will probably just ask what he wants and won't contribute to the forums, but I am planning on becoming very active around here as long as ppl like me

Ok with that said here it goes......

1. I bought a Civic HX 5sp., what exactly is the HX? I know what the other ones are (LX, EX etc.) but never heard of HX. What is it and is it a good thing?

2. This car is in great condition and I don't plan on going crazy with it, with body kits and all of that, but I am interested in getting projector headlights and Euro tail lights. There's about a million different ones on Ebay and I was hopiing for some help with which ones are good or bad etc. These were what I had in mind Projetor head lights Tail Lights Are these any good? What kinds of problems can you come across with these etc.

3. Same question as number 2 but about Air Intakes, there's a million of those everywhere also. I wanted to know which ones are good etc. etc. Here's one of them I was interested in Air Intake

4. Finally the only thing I noticed strange about my Civic is the stereo doesn't come on right aways? It takes 5-10 minutes to kick on, I was hoping maybe someone knew what the problem was?EDIT: I forgot to mention it's not the factory stereo

That's about it for now, I'm sure I'll have more questions as time goes along and I'm sure I'll have all kinds of stuff to talk about as it all happens

HEAD LIGHTS: Black Housing. (I don’t care for projector head lamps)
TAIL LIGHTS: OEM style with clear turn signal
INTAKE: AEM V2
HX= Base model (no ac, power steering ect.)
For the radio it might be an bad ACC. connection...Check it out.

Dude, you seem like a nice guy, but with all respect please don't ask questions like this on a forum that you could easily figure out by using google!

Read in particular about the D16Y5 engine and the VTEC-E, it's the most significant feature of the HX.

Is the HX a good thing? Yes, if you want gas mileage. So really, it's up to you to decide. Read up and decide for yourself, I don't have a clue of what it is about a car that's good or bad to you. I would think that you would have looked into what an HX is BEFORE you bought it.

Some headlights and taillights are are just crap. Expect to pay over $100 for decent ones. The cheapo ones on eBay probably don't fit properly and the bulbs may not snap in tightly. A sure giveaway that the item is questionalbe is when the shipping cost more or about as much as the item itself. A seller only has to refund the cost of the item if you return it - it does not include the shipping. Buy from a good retailer like the links from the preivous post. Call or email them and ask about their fitment guarantee before you buy.

BTW - Expect to get flamed on forums if you mention Altezzas as they are not well liked by the fanatical JDM fashion freaks that hand out here and elsewhere. But if you like 'em then run with them.

Why do you want this? Even the best air intake will probably not make a noticable performance increase especially on your HX. It will make your engine sound louder. But seriously, $5 for the intake and $25 shipping???!! The most important part of an intake is the filter. I would recommend getting a quality high flowing filter like K&N and drop it into your stock intake.

That's not right the unit should come on right away. Do you have the owner's manual? If you do, read it. If not then how about posting the make and model in the sound section of this forum along with the description of the problem.

i agree with kevinking on the oem lights with clear signals (also known as si lights)

something else to consider is blacking out your tail light lenses and/or your headlights as well

im not sure how much it would cost for a pro paintmatch on blacking out your tail lights because my friends dad owns a bodyshop and is doing it for free

if you do get an intake that is all you will hear until/unless you get some exaust mods

the information i was lookin for is different than yurs since u have a 5spd... mine is automatic.. the hx is basically a ex w/o sunroof..maybe the 97 model has A/C glitches or doesnt have one but mine has a very damned good one... the hx has a cvt soo ive been told not to waste my time wit alot of the super performance stuff [i might b wrong... im goin by da grapevine].. deres alot of different stuff so if n e thing send me a prsnl n ill help u out
