I've seen all these threads before about changing them out but I just need to be 100% sure. Ive only seen one person so far do a swap like this and I want to know if anyone else has that can help me. I have a 97 Civic LX with the old stock cluster, I want to change it out with this one here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-05...QQcmdZViewItem
I just need to find out how to do this with my older car, also I emailed Honda about getting the mileage back since this one is digital and they told me that I could just go to the DMV and they will issue a sticker with the mileage of my old cluster. Has anyone every heard of this before? Thanks.

Ok, I found the cluster I want but the problem is the mileage. I emailed honda and went to honda, they told me the DMV could issue me a legal sticker for the difference but when I went today the people working there were clueless.(Is this true?). At Honda they said they could reprogram it but it would basicly be $250 to do it. So what should I do about making this a legal swap?


One Idea:

Now I have the old style cluster so I dont think the cars computer has anything to do with it really. What If I split the harness going into it so that I have two harness, keep the old one hooked up and rewire the other one into my new one. Will this work since all its doing is reading whats coming into it. Unless the cluster has to send something back to the computer?
