Rep Power: 0 '00 Civic EX making weird noises - HELP!!!
My gf's 2000 Civic EX has been making some strange noises in the past few days. When in gear, I can hear what SOUNDS like if the tire was rubbing against the wheel well (its not the wheels for sure, it just sounds like that).
also when the car is idle there are random pinging sounds as if a marble was dropped in it or something.
The clutch has never slipped, but I have noticed a slight squeek coming from the engine when the clutch is activated. It for sure it not a squeek from the pedal (my 02 civic does this all the time, I can distinguish the difference).
The car only has 50k miles on it, and had a routine 30k inspection via honda.
Any ideas?

Rep Power: 221 Pinging could mean your timing needs adjusting. Does it happen when you accelerate from a stop?
My clutch squeaked a little when reving it into gear but I have 130k on it. Could be dust on the pressure plate and/or flywheel causing a squeak similar to debris on rotors. Could also be some other imperfection on the flywheel or pressure plate. Could also be the throw out bearing making a noise when you engage/disengage. You'll need to drop the tranny to take a look unfortunately.
