Rep Power: 0 New EP3 owner here! O2 sensor question along with it.
Hey everyone. I just moved from MD to Texas with my Jeep, and with the gas prices and commute, I'm trading her for a 2004 Civic SI. She's got 111k and will be my first Honda. I love my Jeep but she's just costing me too much money in gas.
The PO said the CEL might come back on for an O2 sensor, upstream. He's giving me $100 for the part, and I've replaced the O2 on my Jeep, how is it on the Ep3? Hard to get to or is it a pretty straightforward process?
Excited to be a new Honda owner, look forward to chatting with all of you.
Here's a pic btw.
I'm trading those rims for some stock ones. Love the look of the stock ones.

Awesome car....super clean. You don't see many EP3's where I live.
Be sure you get the o2 sensor from the dealer or http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ they are expensive, around $200.
These cars don't like aftermarket o2 sensors.

you don't have to get it from the dealer as long as its a plug in direct replacement for your car and is manufactured by either NTK or DENSO. you can save up to a hundred dollars getting it from a parts store like napa or advanced auto. it seems a little fishy why would he say it mite come back on what did he do to it ???

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: New EP3 owner here! O2 sensor question along with it.
My thoughts exactly.
A seller will tell you anything he wants you to hear, just to make the sale. Sellers lie all the time (Sales Maggots).
You bought it.
Sucka.
When the Check Engine Light comes back on, do NOT just toss expensive parts at it.
Start from scratch, diagnose it.
See what it REALLY needs.

CEL is on. It's p0134 - upstream sensor. I might crawl under there and wire brush it off to see if that clears it up. If not, I'll pick up a denso one from amazon (I have prime )
From the reviews, this one seems to be the correct part, am I mistaken?

I've done O2s before on the Jeep, how are they on the ep3? Simple? Tough? Should I buy it and have someone do it? I'm more than inclined enough to do it, but just have never worked on a Honda before.
Also, the PO wasn't fishy. He's a good guy, was just giving me a heads up. He let me know beforehand the CEL was on, and he got it ran with the p0134 code, but it had gone off, so he just was letting me know. I was expecting it. Wasn't a sale, it was an even trade for my Jeep. My commute is 45 miles and his is 5...made sense for us.

Make it all shiny and bad? LOL
P0134, front sensor, it is an A/F sensor. Not much troubleshooting listed, just replace it.
I got this Honda part number 36531-PND-A11 see if it matches your sellers. I'm lazy.
(You probably could look it up on the Denso website too.)

Hey! I read somewhere that someone said their's was dirty and they wired it up and it was fine!
Sounds stupid now that I think about it...
Thanks for your help. I'll double check and order the part tonight.

i would get the denso from a local parts store i paid 100 dollars for mine at advanced auto i say this because if you have issues with the new sensor you can just drive back to the store no internet bullshit and sitting by the mail box. and cleaning the outside won't do jack the important guts are still dirty.
