i bought a car recently off of auction. It did say SI however lots of of my friends say honda civic si sedan for this gen does not exist
regardless i would like to know why carfax and auction advertised it as SI and it is not SI. Did google search found one article that si existed in canada and i came to beleive it is no different than ex here in US.
it looks like car was transferred from Canada at some point. So basically i will attach picture of carfax and my car and just want to know what model it is and whether I can get recall fixed in US should one come up, it is weird honda website is not recognizin VIN. Thank you it is my first time posting on forum
Canadian Si is the USDM EX, both have the D17A2 1.7L SOHC VTEC engine (127BHP)
The "true" Si (SiR in Canada) is the EP3 hatch with the K20A3 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC engine (160BHP)
edit: realized you pretty much already mentioned all that. Dealerships should be able to look up the vin. NHSTA vin decoder isn't decoding it correctly tho, which is weird. In any case, things made for the USDM EX is stuff that'll work on your car

Technically your friends are correct in that the Si only came in hatch form for 7th gen. As a Canadian, I still don't consider our Si to be one. Now the SiR's are taxed all to hell because they're some stupid "rare special edition" and way too much money for what they are. I'm curious as to why someone would pay to get it imported from Canada though. What year does it look to have been moved?
But to answer your question, KBB would be for an EX, but I wouldn't trust their evaluations. Typically they're skewed up a bit and yours may be worth slightly less since it's not from the US (US cars are cheaper where I am so I assume it works the same vice-versa).
Just a quick search with the VIN just shows all the auction sites for me. I trust it's passed all its inspections? It looks like it took one hell of a wack at some point

Thank you. All state inspections in WA state is backed up, i cant find a space to go through inspection.
let's see,
Canadian Si models have different from US EX models:
- DRL headlghts
- baby chair hooks are supposed to be better
- bigger windshield washer reservoir? (unsure of this one, don't quote me)
the rest should be OK.
Unsure what the DRL will mean for getting electronic/electrical parts for the car.
My civic went to Quebec with me, finding a working DRL was trick and I did not have the fog lights to connect the DRL module, so they accepted the halo connected to it.
According to the Canadian Honda records you still have an outstanding recall for Passenger airbag. https://www.honda.ca/recalls/2HGES16834H919867
I would advise you to get this done immediately as it is a life threatening problem for a front seat passenger in the event of airbag deployment.
