ENGINE SWAP K20C2 into a 2005 Honda Civic

Hey all so I have a 2005 Honda Civic stock manual and I have a 2016 Honda Civic LX engine K20C2 with a 6 speed tranny will this swap be possible? I love challenges but I don’t want to spend too much money on something that would be impossible. Luckily it’s a K series engine so I know that specific series works in the 2001-2005 models I just need others opinion on this because I have not seen one car do this kind of swap yet thank you!!

Possibly but tuning might be an issue. Hondata could tell you.

Yeah I’m just concerned about the advancements in electrical etc in the C2 engine and the 2005 model maybe not having the required parts to have such a new engine in it. Is hondadata another website?

That would be my concern also. Hondata is one of the leaders in Honda swaps. Check them out and maybe send them
an email and they might have an answer. Also Hasport and K Tuner are other companies to look into.

...I might be missing something but why are you tuning anything?

You run the 2016
-Engine
-transmission
-harness
-ecu

.........

Then you will need to pin out the signal wires to your gauges. Like the RPM, speedo and what not.

Re: ENGINE SWAP K20C2 into a 2005 Honda Civic

It would probably be easier to grab an ECU from a RSX and then get Kpro or equivalent and a tune. Adapters can be found for the older ECUs so no splicing would need to be done.

I would guess the newer ECU has different connectors, different terminals, uses different communication protocols, etc.
