Looking to buy a si2002 151k.
Going on Friday. owner says struts and brakes are shot and needs a tune up.
Wondering what are overall issues with the car. (aside from maintenance items)
Realize the clutch will be based on a persons driving habits, but for an experienced driver how long do these clutches last?
Thanks Madness

I hate that saying lol. Are you in the US or Canada? The Si trim is different between the two.
About a year ago I bought an '03 Si (USDM) with about 150k miles. The timing chain tensioner failed causing the engine to jump time bending 8 valves. Replaced the head with one from a CR-V only to then find out the clutch was absolutely trashed as well. I don't think the previous owners cared for it much though.
I would definitely ask if the tensioner has been replaced. If I'm not mistaken they are known to fail (as I experienced).
After I fixed everything I really enjoyed that car and really miss it

sounds like someone drove this car into the ground and is dumping it due to impending maintenance. unless it's VERY cheap, i'd pass. lots of hondas out there, this one sounds like a money pit

You can get 200k+ out of an OEM clutch but it all depends how it was driven. To check for slipping going about 20-25 mph put the car in 3rd gear and floor it. Engine RPM and speed should go up slowly and all together. If the clutch is slipping it will rev high and not move accordingly.
