Buy a different car. You will just lose money trying to get power numbers out of the d17.

Only thing I have heard that worked, was a stage 1 cam. Nothing else works and is all for show, including your intake.

Re: 02 civic Ex Sedan performance upgrades

^ Honda's take some cash to make them go fast, especially for the D17. They are designed for fuel economy and longevity. Buy a s2000 or prelude of you want fast. You can make a D17 fast but it takes some cash. Engine swap to k-series or turbo is your best option for performance. Suspension mods are the best thing to invest on since all Hondas handle well. A prelude or s2000 would take bolt on parts better then a civic.

Re: 02 civic Ex Sedan performance upgrades

Yea, that would probably be better. It all depends on how much power you want. There are other cars that respond better to bolt on's and such. There were some guys on here that we're getting 300+ hp from there D17 but it's not easy.

that would probably be best....

these cars are made for reliability, economy, and longevity....treat them well and they last forever....the people having problems are most likely beating on them from every stop light....

Could you explain how the people having head gasket and automatic transmission problems are from "most likely beating on them from every stop light"?

Re: 02 civic Ex Sedan performance upgrades

almost nobody here beats on their car and we still have problems. thats like saying you can buy a ferrari but just keep it under 2k rpms so you dont break it.

no its not....thats completely different....a ferrari is designed, built, and made for torque, HP, high RPMs, performance, heavy acceleration, abuse, and speed, the total opposite of a civic....

if you want those things, then you buy a car thats built for it, a civic is not....no point in trying to turn a ***** cat into a pitbull....it aint gonna happen....

i would still recommend the crower stage 1 cam.
makes going to work much better and engine runs better and happier.
