Cool 2001 D17a2 ex coupe upgrades?

Ok so I have around 2300 dollars to put into my car. I'm not looking for crazy horse power but I want some sort of pull in my car lol. I kno these engines are some of the slowest but o well I have it haha. I'm not looking towards nitrous or turbo. More like all motor type of thing. Just trying to see what I can buy within my budget for some power. This is my daily driver keep in mind. New to the game sorta haha. But thanks to all who respond. Again it is a d17a2 Honda ex.

You can do stage 1 CAM, intake headers and exhaust. If you want more power and to spend more money the best is a Stage 2 CAM, (need spring kit), k-pro for engine management, and intake headers and exhaust for best performance from the CAM. For a D17 a CAM is the cheapest and really the only way to get a good amount of horsepower.

I would definetly go with K-pro if you have over 1100 dollars. I hear it is the best mod for the money besides nitrous or turbo, and even then it would help if you decided to go that route in the future.

http://www.crower.com/civic-ex-d17a2...-camshaft.html

From some of my research on this forum it would seem this camshaft is your best bet especially for the money, will leave you plenty of money for other things. If you decide to replace the camshaft take care of the timing belt since you're already in there.

Another thing a lot of people do is change out the rear sway bar, look on some rsx forums and find a part out for an 05-06 rsx type s. You get less body roll around corners and it's pretty cheap. You can use the end links on your car or buy aftermarket, can't remember which ones are best but I'm sure someone will let you know when they read this.

I'm actually in the same boat as you, just got my 7th gen and can't wait to start changing it up. Hope more people post on this thread.

Re: 2001 D17a2 ex coupe upgrades?

This forum started off as a dedicated 7thgen civic forum, so there's a metric butt ton of information out there to upgrade the 7thgen. All you have to do is search and browse the 7thgen specific sub-forum.

But, if you need a starting point....

go to town on the suspension, you'll get the most bang for your buck. You can get a decent coilover setup for $1500, grab an rsx rear sway bar for $100, a good one-piece design front upper strut bar for $100, camber kits as necessary for prolly $150.. With whatever money you have left, cam it, go for some bolt ons if you please, wheels or tires, aesthetics, or save for big mods like a turbo or an all motor build (I personally haven't seen many all motor builds with the D17). Either that, or save all your cash and go for a k-swap
