im new at this forum

just got a civic si 2003 hatch and i love this car!

i test drove it before buying it and really liked it.. everything felt good
the guy said the car even had a new clutch

the car has only 71k miles and i did the oil and tranny fluid change and even changed all the filters

last nite i noticed how i have to put more pressure to shift into 4 gear and geting out is a little harder (bout 20% harder)

im new to manual tranny cars and am wondering if anybody can help me with this issue


not enough fluid, synchronisers going bad, need new bushings, etc

Check all of your clutch fluid first. Then from there, I don't know what else to tell you. It would be bad enough for one of the gears is going out but who knows.

Replace your tranny fluid with fresh oil from Honda to the correct levels, and drive it around for a while and shift often to work it into the syncros, and see if that makes it any better. I know that helped me slide into 1st easier, but you could have a different problem, but replaceing tranny fluid is inexpensive and a good start.

What fluid did you use to change it? Manuals are not as picky as autos but if you used poor quality fluid that could be it. Is it only 4th gear or other gears as well?
