will i have a problem opening my headlights???
im tinting the orange lense inside of my stock headlights(2002 civic lx) and before i go throgh all the trouble of removing the bumber and attempting to take apart the headlights i need to no if they will even come apart or the trubles i may run across.
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
kk, you shouldn't have problem doing it. i blackhoused my headlights and for that i had to pull the lens from the rest of the housing. How do you plan on taking them apart?
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
thats what i did when i blackhoused mine. im not sure how what ever you use for to smoke them will react to being put in the oven as i have never smoked lights before. i reccomend that after you bake em you reseal them with new caulking aswell (just to make sure that they do not leak and get condensation in them) i also reccomend that after you have them finished and put back in the car that you make them look the best by using some sort of a headlight restoration kit, i used the 3m headlight restoration kit with great results.

restore the inside or outside of the lens because someone told me the inside is very easy to scratch so dont try to restore it but at the most wipe it out wit a micro-fiber cloth is that true??
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
i am just talking about the outside of the lens. Have you considered blackhousing your headlights instead, it looks great and its not expensive?

Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
ya im doing that to and also adding a new mesh grill. im using krylon fusion for plastic to paint the inside and using vht shades for the smoking the orange lens. i figured to just do it alll at once.
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
here is what mine look like now. they look even better than this now as this picture was taken when i taped off the arear around the light before i used the headlight restoration kit.
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
ya thats exactly what im doing but i dont like the color orange so im going to smoke it out but that is really nice.how exactly do you take off the bumper.
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
you have screws on either side by the front wheels (you'll see me when your lookin) unpop all the pushpin clips on the bottom of the bumper and the pushpins on the top under the hood. There are tonns of threads on here that have pictures on how you remove the front bumper i suggest using those because there are pictures on there and those guys can explain it a lot better than me haha. if you dont the the amber lens on the headlight have you considered removing the amber lens from the headlight housing when you have the headlight housing apart? then you just replace the clear signal bulb with an amber one? i am not sure if that is legal in your area though, you might have to ask around. Just with all the laws you can't be to careful.
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
amber=orange. right now in your front signal lights there are prob clear bulbs because there is an amber lens covering it, but if you removed the lens you would have to put an anmber (orange) bulb in to replace it so you still get the amber signal light. however i am not sure if this is legal or not, i have heard of it being done. personally i like the look of the amber lens in the headlight housing after it is blackhoused but i figured i would tell you of this idea because you stated that you do not like the orange in the headlight.

Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
I hate the look of the amber side markers in headlights, especially on my silver car I think the headlights look a lot better totally clear. The problem is it is very illegal to remove the headlights side markers, your even more likely to get tickets for that than HIDs. If you do it just be prepared for the fact that it might not be a free mod after you start getting tickets.
Theres a DIY in the 7th gen section on how to open headlights.

Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
the orange piece pops out, there are a few tabs you have to push from the back and it will come off. you can either leave it off or smoke it and put it back. be careful not to break the tabs tho. but like they said, you need an orange reflector to be legal. you could paint the clear reflector with orange metalcast paint tho and that will work. the turn signal can be white or orange.
Re: will i have a problem opening my headlights???
well i smoked the orange lense out and the clear coat stuff that was on it diddent fully come off during prep and it messed up so bad but its w/e i just sealed them back up with out them and they still look really good. also the turn signal socket broke does anyone know how much those things cost and the best place to get them??
