Stick Shift Bushing..

Where can I get a recommend bushing for my stick shift? (2dr LX)
Stick could feel a little more consistent while shifting..

As well, does anyone have a write-up for installation, or could provide me a link?

I tried searching, so any help is much appreciated!

Something like that? I don't know where to find bushings like that anymore.. If this were a few years back, it'd be easier to find.

Well, the stick feels pretty loose while in neutral and I jiggle it back and forth.

Just doesn't feel as tight as it should be.

My dad had the bushing replaced in his '03 Golf and it feels amazing.

Re: Stick Shift Bushing..

Well in neutral it will move back and forth because thats between the 3 top and 3 bottom gates, one in gear there will be slight freeplay but thats normal for car (unless theres a lot of movement then you have an issue), but you have to remember that are cars were economic and don't a precision close gear shift ratio or sport gear box. Are shifters were not made for white knuckled hammer fist shifting. To my knowledge i also don't think there is any measurements on what is suppose to be the correct amount of freeplay on the shift lever. I'm also not familiar with that aftermarket bushing kit that riceboy posted the link to.

Anyone have an idea, possibly the shifter cables? or would that just make it harder to grab a gear not make the shifter box feel sloppy?

Re: Stick Shift Bushing..

It gets rid of a little bit of the play associated with the rubber bushings holding the entire assembly down. I have a kit in mine, but I don't remember if I noticed a difference at all.. It has been 6 years since I installed mine..

Re: Stick Shift Bushing..

Yeah i read the write up, but it sounds like it stops the box from moving around, not the stick shifter itself, but like i said i'm not familiar with this kit.

www.strutking.com

There are 2 dif ones, under the shifter and on the tranny at end of shift linkage. Upgrad them both, it'll cost you 50 bucks and take maybe an hour... shifting feels more precise... also change your MTF.

Re: Stick Shift Bushing..

Go to the honda parts dept and get the honda MTF, never use non-honda tranny fluid.

Re: Stick Shift Bushing..

I purchased the bushings and the Revo SS from Robear Racing. I noticed that the bushings were listed 3 dollars less and shipping was also cheaper from Robear. You might want to consider that website also.

Correction: I just spoke to Kevin @ Strut King and he informed me that they offer free shipping on all their orders. If you are looking at getting both bushings it's $48 shipped. Robear Racing doesn't offer the shift CABLE bushings but they do offer the shift bushings (shifter housing). They also carry the Revo SS which Strut King does not (they carry a SS adapter for Civic & RSX). For me Robear's bushings (w/shipping) were cheaper b/c I was already purchasing the SS.
