temp guage question

I'm wondering if the temp gauge is accurate or not. I've only recently gotten the civic (first one). it's a 2005 LX-G. The temp gauge sits at about 40% of the way up, once the car is warmed up. Every other car I've had so far has its temp gauge at exactly half way once warmed up... so sorry for the stupid question

Re: temp guage question

Being alittle bit farther than 1/4 and at 1/2 is normal temp. Any where in the range of that is normal. A little past 1/2 way can be normal to but if it gets up to high then thats not normal.

Re: temp guage question

That about right for this generation. My older Japanese models would always show 1/4, 1/3 when at temp, the later models are higher but not quite center.

Re: temp guage question

my 02 is 40% also, the gauge is completely useless unless you are seriously overheating. thats really all it tells you. it could show you are warmed up, when in reality the temp could be anywhere between 170-200F. you need a real gauge if you want to know for sure.
