Keyless entry

Hey guys!

I'm not sure if anyone else encountered this problem, but I have the stock key fob and it suddenly stopped working. I thought it was the battery at first, so I went out and replaced it, and the damn thing still wont work. Is it safe to say that my key fob is dead?

Re: Keyless entry

test it at one of the auto store displays. it will tell you if the unit is sending an RF signal. advance auto has one but not sure who else. it could have somehow reset itself and needs to be reprogrammed to the car. i dont know how this is done, but there are instructions online and dealer should know too.

Re: Keyless entry

I "tested" mine on one of those displays, while it can lock my car from a good distance (50yds+) it did not trigger the display, but my girlfriends fob did...

it even had a picture of the honda fob on it...

so, dont necessarily trust the testers.

I would try the re-program them and see if it works.

Re: Keyless entry

Make sure the red LED on the fob lights when buttons are pressed.

If lighting, try the re-program procedure.

Re: Keyless entry

The LED light on the fob does not light up, even with the new battery installed. I returned the new battery i bought and exchanged it for another one in case the one i purchased was defective but the fob is still not functional.

Re: Keyless entry

have you opened it up and cleaned out the contacts and stuff? my remote is very picky to be clean and also put back together a certain way. first time i cleaned it it wouldnt work at all, so i opened it back up and played with it, now works everytime.
