Underdrive Pulleys

I don't really know much about them. I know unorthadox makes a crankshaft one and you can get with all 3. I heard that is some cases these pulleys can be bad. But unorthadox says the accessorys pulley is same as stock but lighter. I was thinking about just getting a cranksahft one. Any input? Thanks. Are the aftermarket pulleys bad news?

Re: Underdrive Pulleys

I remember reading a thread on here saything that messing with the crankshaft dampner completely throws the motor out of whack, and the gains are so minimal that it just doesnt pay. Personally I would look elsewhere for power gains, but thats just me.

Re: Underdrive Pulleys

i got all 3 unorthodox pullies at once and I noticed a very small difference in maybe say torque. But yea its not really worth the money...it should save some gas though..

Re: Underdrive Pulleys

I got some AEM Tru Power Accessory pulleys, i.e. A/C and Alternator, and I dont really feel or see any difference at all! Mostly for looks, and not worth the money.

Re: Underdrive Pulleys

The stock crank pulley does have a damper in it, which dampens the vibrations the crank gets from when the cylinders ignite. Upgrading the stock pulley to an undampened crank pulley you run the risk of ripping your motor apart due to how the motor resonates/vibrates and eventually cracks. Not with it at all. The accessory pulley is the same size and just for looks, and the other one is underdriven as well, so your battery might have trouble holding a charge because it never gets enough juice.

PS I have an Unorthodox accessory pulley for sale if your interested (was never sold individually)- PM me.
