Front Bumper Removal Problem

So today i decided to install my new projectors. I made the opening bigger for the bulbs and thats all dandy, thinking everything is going to be great I went at it.
Started to remove the bumper, all goes well (those clips are a bitch) and then i get to the final two end bolts. Yay its going to be so easy! Not.
I am trying to take the bolt out but it keeps spinning, then i see a little protruding come out of the fender, and then i stop. I pull off the plastic around the wheel a little, enough for me to see, and the top part is spinning with the bolt. I tried WD-40, i dont have enough room to get another wrench on top, i tried pliers, i tried a screwdriver. I need help to remove these two bolts that are part of the easiest part of the whole job.
Thanks in advance

Any recommendations welcome

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

If nothing else works you could carefully grind one end off.

And then make shure you secure the nut side when you put it back on.

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

its just a threaded metal insert i think. try and hold it steady while removing the screw.

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

I believe it is called a plate nut, if it is what I am thinking of. Sometimes you can push the nut up against metal to get just enough traction to hold it still while you unscrew thw screw at the same time(I hope that made sense).

Its not going to be easy to cut off... I know what little bolt your talking about and you are going to need a dremel to cut it out.

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

this is really weird. i've taken my bumper off numerous times and never had this problem. maybe try using a open ended wrench to hold the plate nut and a 10mm ratchet to loosen the bolt.

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

If you got some wire you could wrap it around the the washer at the base of the head, wrap the other end around a screwdriver and just yank on that bitch! Youll have to buy a new plate nut if thats what its called.

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

Well the thing about the plate nut is it is probably only a thin piece of metal or plastic. It's not a full on nut. I think they look like this.

Re: Front Bumper Removal Problem

90 degree needle noise pliers, use them to hold the plate to the bumper or wedge a flat head screw drive in between the bumper and fender and twist it to add tension to the plate.
