automatic transmission click

hey guys..
i noticed yesterday that when my car is in park and i hit my brake it makes a clicking noise in the center console. it only does this if the key is in the on position( weather its started or not ) but doesn't do it if the key is in the acc position or off, or in any other gear than park( even neutral )
any ideas?

Re: automatic transmission click

It is the sound of the shift interlock solenoid. It is a normal sound.
