mufflers

What size diameters are the inlet and outlet, as well as the placement of the pipes of the stock muffler on an 05 civic. Also what brand of muffler do ya'll recommend. I don't want to get something annoyingly loud or obnoxious, just something that sounds better than what's on there now.
Thanks for the help

Re: mufflers

thought any exhaust shop or mechanic shop around the corner would be able to tell you which size they are... but guess asking here is more confortable... but risky!!!
follow one of the thousands of results from the simple yahoo search on 2003 honda civic exhaust pipe size (very hard to type so many words, right?)

Re: mufflers

your question is way too broad. we need more information.

a) is your car 2/4dr, is it an ex, lx, or dx etc.

b) are you trying to replace only the muffler itself? (ie. weld a new mufller in place?) or are you wanting a catback system that bolts onto your car?

c) what do you mean by placement of the pipes? if you buy just a muffler, it has to be welded or clamped in place using muffler cement. if you buy a catback it bolts in place, so i dont see what you need to know anything about placement for?

d) inlet and outlet doesnt always matter if youre trying to bolt on a new system, what really matters is if the flanges match up, which most catback systems do for our car since they are customized for our car. catbacks for our car are typically 2, 2.25, 2.5 inch depending on the brand you choose. they will fit fine if its specifically for your model of car, so your actual 1.75" stock piping doesnt really come into effect.

Re: mufflers

you can't do much for a good quality bolt on catback but you can get a decent universal muffler like vibrant street with a vibrant ultra quiet resonator. or a OBX twin loop.
