Re: lightweight battery
most race batteries will not have enough starting power in cold winters. and there are much better ones available like odyssey. but if youre cheap, you can go grab a lawn and garden battery for $25-30 and use that in the summer (and winter too if you never dip below freezing). get the best they have, 300cca, and it will be prolly 1/2 the weight of stock and still plenty to start the car.

Re: lightweight battery
yea i agree, to spend like 140$ on that isnt worth the money, just to reduce the couple pounds. the amount of fuel savings you will get by removing that amount of weight will never ever make up for the price.
then you have to worry about the cca and life of the thing. ill never go for one of those crappy aftermarket or race batteries.

Re: lightweight battery
My girl friends rsx has a battery no bigger than my lawn mower. It gets pretty cold in the winters and we have never had it not start. Why not get one of those batteries Im sure their not expensive like those race batteries.
IMO id get a red cap. I have left my lights on over night and it started the next day no prob. Plus I have a lot of power in my trunk and that battery gives it every drop it needs, without killing my electrical system. Infact I have turned the ac on high and every light in the car on, with my subs bumping and it still did not do anything to the headlights. no flicker what so ever! Red top ftmfw!

Re: lightweight battery
HELL NO! how in any way would that sound legit?? your buying a two year old battery because it's 11.5 lbs? I mean really? The cost it's going to be to buy another battery after your "light" an "used" battery ****'s itself is going to be the price of the gas your trying to save. The gains of losing that little of weight is going to give you NOTHING. Every 100 lbs is 1/10th of a mile fast on the quarter mile. you'd be a fool to even consider that. I'd rather spend that money on an oil change or something. If you want MPG you have to actually drop weight. besides who knows what the amps of that used battery is. stop being dumb.....
Re: lightweight battery
Um its been a while sence I have lifted my old battery but id say its about 30 pounds? Does that sound right? The honda fit battery is about 5-7 pounds lighter. but about 1/2 the size and the same amount of CCA. And then the race batteries are like 15 pounds. But those batteries do not store amps very well so you would prolly want to invest in an electric charger aswell. Id go with the fit battery and youll be saving almost 1/100th of a sec on your qt mile
