Cable Bushing Help?
Cable Bushing Help?
Hey guys im looking to change my cable bushings. Now i have been searching around for the best stuff but really unsure. I went to twmperformance and they had a set for $40 and strutking had a set for $25? I am really not sure what the difference is between the two. I thought maybe you guys would know thanks. Also should i change my shifter bushing aswell?
Thanks,

Re: Cable Bushing Help?
Get them at strutking- its quality stuff- I have them.
There are two types of busings... ones go under your shifter and dont seem to make a whole hell of a lot of difference, so I'd skip those if I was doing it again. The other ones they sell go in the engine bay on the tranny side of the shifter cables. They are legit- they replace the stock rubber ones that create a lot of the spongy feeling in the shifts. Get those, you'll like em.

Re: Cable Bushing Help?
Your right, there are two cables (one fron front and back, one for side to side). Since the bushings are aluminum, you cant squish them like the rubber ones into where they belong. Each bushing is two parts. Imagine a double stuff oreo cut down directly in the center of the icing. Thats what the bushing looks like. The cookie part is to keep the bushing in place, and the two parts of the icing come together as the actualy functional part of the bushing. You reuse the cotter pin to hold it all together.

Yup, you sandwhich them together and the end of the cable grabs it in the center. Its in an odd spot thats not very camera friendly.
Here are some pics I dug up on the twm bushings... The more parts, the greater the chance somethings going to go wrong. (Wow, they look wack!)

Re: Cable Bushing Help?
I installed both sets of bushings at the same time, so i cant say how each work by themselves. I would recommend getting them for anyone! it is nuts how much better everything feels. I also installed the revo ss at the same time and my **** is so tight i ****ing love it. A++
Re: Cable Bushing Help?
I just ordered the strutking bushing for the cable only. Im thinking about purchasing the revo short shifter and when i do I will switch out the bushings.
Thanks guys.
btw do put back the metal piece (washer) thats on the bushing right now?

Re: Cable Bushing Help?
There is a plastic washer that sits on top- I cleaned it off and reused it just so the cotter pin (that you also reuse) didnt scrape up the bushings... even tho its metal, i'm **** like that. hah
Re: Cable Bushing Help?
Not the white plastic piece, there is an extra metal round piece. I just received it and im going to install it tomorrow. I will post updates whether or not I like it.

Re: Cable Bushing Help?
I dont think I had that metal peice your talking about. Take a pic?
Its prob not a big deal. If it fits and looks like it belongs, use it, if not- dont worry about it.

Re: Cable Bushing Help?
Wow guys what a diffrence. It feels great way smoother shifting!!! A+++ If you have stock bushing guys change them and if you feel your shifting mushy change it to the struking bushings. Cheapest invesment yet but amazing results. Oh triz i had room for the metal bushing on the smaller on so i left it and the other one there was room just for the bushings.

Picture of said metal bushing??
I told you you'd like it. The other shifter bushings dont make any difference to me. Let me know if you end up getting them and notice something amazing.
