Talking Drag times (with a question XD)

Okay I was wanting to know your guys drag times if you drag.

I have a 03 Ex (standard) *D17A2*
When I ran I was stock at the time.

my best times were

1/8 - 11.29 / 61.31mph
1/4 - 17.67 / 78.41mph

But I was wondering (Ricer question here) I took off my muffler and left the resonator on *DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT BACK PRESSURE* and I removed my stock Intake system and put a cheap little Spectre system on it *from my dead little 92 rolla* at least till my Kamikaze CAI comes in, I was wondering If I would make any bit of a difference like a couple hundredths or even tenths. If not fine, but I'm going to the drags this weekend anyways. *I'll get pictures. XD*

now, come on tell me your times and what you have done to your civics.

Re: Drag times (with a question XD)

Both mods wouldn't do anything to your times. The muffler idea would most likely hurt your times. The best you can do is get some sticky tires, different suspension setup, and get your reaction time down as far as you can.

I still won't ever understand how its going to hurt my times*please explain, and please no back pressure stuff, thats all BS*, but still not putting it back in because I like the sound, at least till I get my skunk 2

as for reaction times, I don't think I can get much faster on the launch, those times had a launch of .0098 reaction time. most of my reaction times are around .0100-.0300 off the launch.

but I'll see what I get when I go to the drags, If my times are faster, then removing the muffler will actually help. I just wanted to know from some peoples experiences.

now, have you dragged your car, or no. if not you ever just test yourself and see what times you got?

I don't think it would hurt it but it probably wasnt a big enough difference to make any gain down the track. If you want to get your times down i would start with a nice cold air intake/headers/full exhaust. Clean out any unnecessary weight. I wouldn't go any farther then that if you don't plan on swapping out the motor for something with more potential.

No the d17 will stay, I'm going to turbo this one. I have parts picked out, just have to keep saving, Kinda broke right now after buying it, >.> spent a good bit on the rolla *nothing big just repairs* and then it just completely died, so I know most of what I'm doing. Just wanted to know if it would help. not looking for big gains, just a tenth or so. XD. I don't plan to beat the muscle cars around here for a long time. but sure can't wait.

so how about you. have any drag times?

Re: Drag times (with a question XD)

with built short block, turbo and fuel cut i ran a 16.6 about to do fuel and head we will see what that dose..... suspension should help and i would suggest not trying to build the d17a2 parts are expensive and not getting any cheaper, id swap if i could go back..... just my opinion

Man, i dont know why u guys drag the 1.7L, without the turbo or swap.. I would never put my Dx on the drag unless i was boosted or swapped out.

Why not, its still fun to go down the track, I love to drive, I don't care if my car is slow, Just the sound of the car, the feeling of the Gs *while small XD* is just great.

Plus once I start to work on my car this will let me know if I'm getting better times and I myself am getting better as a driver.

Its not all about going fast, its about loving what you do, and what you do to the car.

Re: Drag times (with a question XD)

Okay so I made it to the dragway tonight.

I ran a new personal best.

16.99 On my 1/4 time, and 10.86 on my 1/8, this is after I took the stuff off like I was wondering.

So it turns out that removing the muffler and intake res actually improved the time over half a second instead of slowing me down.

So anyone else go to the drag lately?

Cool little thing, XD I was the only FF car there who made his tire smoke. made mustang next to me go back to the hole so he could try and get his to smoke as well. But.....He failed. :P made me feel awesome, even though he beat me down the lane.
