I'm 16 and own a 2002 EX Sedan. I don't have a ton of money but I want to upgrade my exhaust. I want to upgrade for two basic reasons, one because I like the way the fat pipes look and two because I want a sportier sound. I was kinda discouraged when I realized how much a full exhaust was, until I realized I could solve my two problems with simply upgrading my muffler. I hate those ricey high-pitched exhausts just as much as the next guy, and I want the deepest I can get. I saw the cheap-o 3A Racing Universal Mufflers at my local AutoZone, and after watching a few Youtube videos I was pleased enough with the sound and the price tag of only $60. However, I don't really want to go through taking my car to a muffler shop to get it welded on. So now I'm looking more into a muffler that would be specified for my car model that I could bolt/clamp on myself. I haven't looked very hard for one yet, but I've been told its quite a bit more money. Can you guys list off some decent bolt-on mufflers and a general price for me?


My second question deals back with those universal mufflers. Is clamping/bolting on an option for these universal mufflers? Or is cutting and welding pretty much my only option? Is there any way to buy a pipe that grows enough to where my current outlet could match up with the inlet on an aftermarket muffler? To the point where I could basically clamp on this "conversion" pipe to my stock pipe then clamp the other end onto a universal muffler? If that doesn't make sense please make me clarify.

you can bolt on a lot of mufflers man you can purchase clamps and many different auto stores.. Also the muffler has an effect on the sound but so does the thickness of your actual exaust so therefore just because you hear a muffler that sounds good on one car it could sound completely different on your car.. just something to keep in mind.. Megan racing has some good products if you wanna check them out.

I've been purposefully watching videos of 7th gen cars with stock exhausts and the different upgraded mufflers to try to get the most accurate reference sound. I just found a brand on autopartswarehouse.com called Kool Vue. They have a 6" round muffler with a 2.25" inlet and a 4" outlet. It says its a direct OE replacement for my year and trim level. I've personally never heard of the brand and when I youtubed it, there was only one video of a car with the exhaust. Granted, it was some Saturn but I think I can use it as enough of a reference to say that I like the sound. Has anyone over heard of these mufflers? It's only $73.84 with free shipping. Is it worth a shot?

I'm glad you brought up Megan, because after watching some youtube vids I've realized that the Megan N1 is my favorite muffler so far. its available on ebay for $80 with $20 shipping. I can definately deal with that. My problem is that my car needs a 2.25" inlet and the N1 comes in a 2.5" inlet (or a 3" if you go with the Turbo model). Whats the BEST way to make this muffler fit and whats the CHEAPEST way to make it fit? Clamping, welding, buying an adapter tube, etc.

i think HKS is the only bolt-on rear section exhaust you can get for our cars without gong full catback. but i suggest saving money and doing it right with a full catback. it will sound better and usually look better too. something like greddy, apexi, etc.

the HKS Hi-Power Rear section exhaust is 375 for our year. I don't have that kind of money and i definaetely dont have enough for a full catback. I'm really only interested in buying a muffler. is there any way other than welding to convert a 2.25" outlet to fit a 2.5" inlet on a Megan N1 muffler?

have you heard a twin loop muffler setup OBX makes a universal one.

check out the Megan M-Spec II i really like the sound of it but its a 2.4 inlet.
