foglight issues

Man im having some real trouble trying to install my new yellow ebay foglights. Any help i could get in the next couple hours (while the sun is out) would be helpfull.
First problem, im bad with electrical stuff, second, the diys that im using have a different harness setup so its kinda hard to understand.
My harness is pretty much just one big piece, inluding the 2 plugs to the foglights, Only one ground (i think there should be 2? for each foglight), and its connected to the relay and small fuse, and also a red wire with a small wire connector...all connected(which is different then the other diys).
then there is one small sub harness consisting of the switch plug, another plug (think it might plug into fuse box?) , and a ground.
Last there is one red wire with connectors on each end ( probably plugging into red wire on first harness)
I would like to run and install the switch to the left of steering wheel
so my questions are,
1) will the lights work with only one ground ( the diys have grounds for each light, my harness only has a ground for the pass side light)
2) should i cut my harness? or try and run my relay and fuse wire through the firewall ( how would i do that, theyre too big). One diy vaguely says to cut the harness and another says dont cut it...im confused on what i should do
3) does the wire connecting to the switch run and connect to the car fusebox under the steering wheel?
4) is there an easyer way to do this that im missing?

yea im still having trouble, im now trying to just wire them to the parking lights .
No i have an 02 so my lights are different , but the harness is really ****ed up, its unlike any on the diys, and wires are different colors so its hard to follow that diy

Just finished, ended up hardwiring them to the parking lights, they look good, thx gearbox for this thread it made the difference

It doesn't matter if there is one or two grounds. If there is only one ground it just means that the harness runs wires to both lights from the one connection.
Before installing the harness I would hook everything up temporarly just to make sure it works. Start at the relay and there should be three wires, one that goes to harness leading to the fog lights, one that has a fuse and a terminal to connect to the battery, and a final wire with a plug-in type connector that will goe to the switch. In the kit I installed all three wires were red. At the harness where it plugs into the fog lights there should be a ground. The wire with a fuse in the circuit should be attached to the positive battery terminal or to the fuse block where the battery enters. The purpose of the relay is to allow greater current to pass to the fog lights than the dashboard switch will carry. When you press the fog light switch on your dash it sends 12 volts to the relay which causes a solenoid to close the contacts and makes the circuit between the fused lead going to the battery and the wire going to the fog lights. To test, attach the foglights to the harness, attach the ground(s), attach the fused lead to the battery and the final step is to tough the wire that goes to the dash switch to the positive on the battery as well. If the relay does not have a ground wire it will need to be mount so that it is grounded or it may not activate. If everything is correct, touching the lead that goes to the dash switch will cause the lights to work.
The only wire that goes through the firewall is the lead to the dash switch. The dash switch should have two or three wires, the positive lead going into the switch, the switched lead going out to the relay, and a ground if it is a lighted switch. The positive lead going into the switch controls when the lights can be turned on so chose any time the key is on, whenever the low beams are on, etc.
I'm not sure what people mean by "wiring them to the parking lights". If you wired the switch so that the relay is activated by the parking lights you should be fine. If you left out the relay and wired the fog lights into the same wires as the parking lights you may have problems. The parking light circuit may not supply enough power to provide full brightness but the bigger issue may be that pulling the additional current through the parking light switch may burn the contacts over time and ruin the switch.
