Question Exhaust Question

What are all the factors in an exhaust system that determines the sound as far as the pitch(low/hi)?? I'm looking around for an exhaust, but i'm going for more of a lower unique kind of sound...

I absolutely can not stand that high pitch **** i hear from some local cars around here. I was looking at the evo 2 greddy exhaust, but i'm trying to understand the science of things...

Re: Exhaust Question

resonator changes the sound, so does muffler. and ofcourse the engine. low hp engine is usually louder with the same exhaust since gases dont flow as fast as hi hp engine. i have RSR catback and all it has is a muffler (no resonator) and it sounds pretty deep but loud at times.
