These units use an independant power source to stabilize the voltage being distrubuted to the components that are drawing power from your battery. Basically, it gives your battery a little kick in the

i have the hvs-gt i got a few years ago for $200, it made around 10whp on the evo so i figured its good for a few hp on the civic and better electrical stability. it just has two wires you connect one to + battery clamp and one to - battery clamp. i havent had any problems and noticed a tiny difference after installing. i would say its a good mod if youve run out of things to spend $ on lol.
