Hey, maybe this is a stupid question but I was wondering if someone could clear up what the small oval shaped light in the middle of my headlights is?

The light is basically a maker light. If you look where your healights shine at the sides as you drive at night the light kind of "marks" the side of the road, Atleast that's what I have always thought.

parking light? it just makes your car more visible i guess. i doubt you would get any useful light out of it to see the road.

I could probably get away with painting the reflective surface inside of that black then yes?

not sure about that. I know here in PA you have to have them working in order to pass inspection. I had one burned out in my old 02 coupe but the headlights themselves were good and they made me replace it in order to pass inspection so I don't know if painting the inside of the light matters?

you can paint it, just upgrade from the stock 168 bulb (35 lumens) to a w5w bulb (50 lumens). it will be much brighter and more than visible.
