h.i.d. bulbs?

so on my way home from work i notice one of my bulbs are blown, i have a single beam kit, now, with the ballast that came with kit, will it support bi-xenon bulbs (bulbs with high and low beam)? cause if so then i wanna buy those instead. thanks

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

I think that you need a separate ballast for a dual filament bulb.

I don't think that a relay would handle that kind of voltage.

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

Im not completely sure but i think the only difference is in the bulb because most sites for ordering hids just ask you to specify the bulb and the kits price stays the same

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

thats another reason why i was wondering if i could get the bi-zenon bulbs as well, cause i know its all in the bulb, im just wondering if the ballast i have now will have enough output to support the high/low bulbs

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

they are the same ballasts for single or bi bulbs. if you want to be absolutely sure though, just email whoever youre buying the bulbs from and just verify. or maybe even email the company you bought the original kit from and ask them if they send out the same ballasts when they send out a bi xenon kit.

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

^good thinking! i'll do that, i'd just hate to buy the bi-xenon bulbs for $60 and have them not work

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

so i e-mailed the company i got my kit from and still no response, i e-mailed another company who also sells the kit and here is what he said "which bulbs are you currently running? The ballasts can be used to power bi-xenon bulbs." i replied with what temp. bulbs and size and this was his reply "Im guessing the 03 civics use high/low in the same bulb but you only got the single beam kit? And now you want bi-xenon?" i then replied with "yes." well, it's been 2 days now and still haven't got a response...what do yall gather from this convo? sounds like i can use a ballast from a single beam kit to run bi-xenon bulbs, right?

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

as i was saying before, im almost positive its the same man. im pretty sure when he gets back to you he will say it will work, but that he suggests a full bi xenon kit 'just to be safe' which means he just wants to sell you a full kit. im sure it will work fine. who knows though, just wait and see what he says.

if it was me, i would specifically ask him 'when someone purchases a bi-xenon hid kit, do you guys send out the same ballasts as you send out with a regular single beam hid kit?'

i think thatll get you the answer youre looking for..

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

ballasts are ballasts, they are all the same for converting power

just get the right bulb size and PNP

Re: h.i.d. bulbs?

i asked a guy i work with who knows alot about everything when it comes to hondas and aftermarket parts. when i got my new kit, i let him have my old ballasts which were also a single beam kit, he bought bi-xenon bulbs and the bulbs came with an extra wire, the wire you need to go from low to high beams. the single beam kit has only 2 wires that you plug into that connector piece (not sure what the technical term is at this moment) whereas the bi-xenon has 3. he said he did it, bought the bi-xenon bulbs and it came with that wire and they work, so, i think i'll try it, if it doesn't work, well then, my question will be answered lol

yes, the H4 plug has 3 wires, High beam, low beam, ground. This is the connection between the H4 female socket (from your honda) to the H4 make plug (on the dual bulb). It does not affect the ballast in any way.
