noob questions,
noob questions,
hey, im new to everything about fixing up cars and ive had my 2004 civic ex for about a year now and i havent done anything to it yet,
i just wanted to know if theres anything i can do, thats not to expensive, i recently bought some konig zero rims for it, my car is also automatic, id like to convert it to manual but i heard its a pain in the *** and expensive, so if anyone out there is nice enough to help me out and give me a few pointers it will be greatly appriciated,
i also want red emblems, but i only see them on ebay for 6th and 8th gen civics, will the 8th gen emblems fit?
thanks,
andrewwseee

Re: noob questions,
A good mod for our cars is aftermarket headlights...They are fairly cheap on ebay and easy to install for the most part. Also header and exhaust, but dont buy exhaust off of ebay cause they fall apart. Tint looks good. And a drop if ya can afford the coilovers. They have r1 concept rotors on ebay that are drilled and slotted, and not only do they look good but they improve your stopping power alot! Then if ya got an extra buck or two you can go one of two ways, either power i.e. nitrous kit, or looks i.e. cf hood by a good name brand like seibon or vis.
Re: noob questions,
well i wanted to get some fog lights, but does anyone know if these are any good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/04-05-HONDA-CIVIC-2-4DR-SMOKE-FOG-LIGHTS-OEM-SWITCH_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q 3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c29 3Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZi tem360138355085QQitemZ360138355085QQptZMotorsQ5fCa rQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
and with lowering my car, i might just buy low profile tires for my rims, and isnt that supposed to make it a little lower?
and i still really wanna know about the red emblems,

Re: noob questions,
i bought yellow foglights for my 03 off ebay at that price and i like them, only problem is is that the lens is plastic and not glass like the oem ones therefore they break easier, im on my second set right now but at that price you can afford to buy a new set when one breaks and replace them. low pro tires will make a LITTLE lower, not by much though, a drop would still be recommended. ebay has Tein S-techs springs, priced around $200 and they give you a 1.5 drop plus they work well with stock struts. as far as the red emblems go, i dunno, im just gonna color match mine to my rims myself with paint
Re: noob questions,
Search this site and other Civic/Honda sites for reviews and pics then decide for yourself what you want to do.Listen to some jokers in the forums and ull end up with a 6' wing, ground effects and a bunch of useless bolt-ons.
Best thing to do is educate yourself on ur vic first to figure out what mods are worth while.

Re: noob questions,
mine didn't come with the switch, i suck at electrical stuff, a friend of mine did it and i tried to learn/help out, we wired them into the parking lights. this was also done about 4 years ago. most kits now come with the switch but back then a kit with the switch was hard to find and i didin't wanna pay $70 for an oem switch from the dealership. the installation was fairly easy though, did it in about 4 or 5 hours, we took our time with the bumper since you have to cut out the side parts of the grill so the foglights can sit in there, thats why it took awhile, but like i said it was done along time ago so im not sure how long it was exactly but i think it was 4-5 hours

Re: noob questions,
alright, thanks. ill probably go with the smoked or yellow ones. and ill probably install springs within the next month once i get some more money coming my way,
and with the emblems ive thought about painting them aswell
but im not sure how that would turn out, and the 8th gen emblems look sick imo, but idk if those would fit my car,
thanks for some of the tips guys, its greatly appriciated

Re: noob questions,
on the 8th gen, which emblems you talkin about? if your talkin about the "H" on the grill and trunk, from the pictures i'm looking at, they look the same as all the other generations. now if your talkin about the "civic" emblem, im pretty sure its just held on by an adhesive so you could put it anywhere on your car

Re: noob questions,
naw, we used an exacto knife and cut it out, it's real thin so it should cut real easy, it's easier than you think. i thought that too though, i thought those were pieces that would pop out in case someone wanted to install the fog lights later on

Re: noob questions,
if the "H" is the same like you say then why replace your existing emblem with a new one...is it missing or messed up?
Re: noob questions,

Re: noob questions,
any red h emblem will fit on the trunk, if they're held on by notches on the back and don't match up just shave them down and get some adhesive and put them on, as far as the front goes, no, not on a stock grill. now if you got a mesh grill like pictured in the link below, then you could do what you would do with the trunk emblem, just use an adhesive
