how many miles???

ok well i was talking to my mom the other day....and of course she believes its a waste of my money to fix it especailly since the car already has 95000 miles on it...but of course all my friends agree with fixing up my car.... so i wanna know what do you guys think and how many miles do you have on your car when you started to fix it and how many miles are on it now

Re: how many miles???

167,000 kms (103,XXX miles) on mine.

I don't believe it's a waste of money if the car has been well looked after and still has a lot of life left in it. As long as the body and undercarriage are in good shape. You can always replace drivetrain components if they die.

Speaking of my high mileage, I'd just like to share that I'm still on my original rear brakes. I think that's pretty impressive.

Re: how many miles???

^^^^Agreed with MM, if frame and all is rust free and not bent or damaged, it is never too late with a honda.

Re: how many miles???

My 2001 LX has 57,800 miles on it; the extended warranty is up at the end of the year - it's covered everything that's needed repair, which is not too much so far. She finally needed new brakes this summer. I plan on having her at least another 3 or 4 years

Re: how many miles???

nothing was done to mine until 75,000 km which is about 50k or so miles. and i agree. the mileage and age means nothing except that your vehicle has driven that far, you might end up having to change some engine components like a transmission or something one day, but if its in good shape, then you can modify at anytime you want.

i know when my cars at 200k + and more, ill still be doing work on it. (if i still have it).

my car gets an oil change every 3k miles or less. so as long as its been taken care of its all good.

Re: how many miles???

yeah the only problem with modding older car is, you have to budget out for stuff that breaks. when its new, you dont have to worry about spending fix-it money yet

Re: how many miles???

My 03 EX has 57k on it, I wouldn't call it a waste of money cause mods make the car worth more when you sell it as far as I know, and you can always remove them and sell them. I wouldn't put mods on it if your car had like 150k+ miles and you were planning on selling it soon, but under 100k is fine.

Re: how many miles???

Mine had 60k when I started, and now its almost at 110k, and im still working. Just like gearbox said, you do gotta fix stuff, but if you budget correctly the car will run forever (for gods sakes its a HONDA). Im getting ready to boost mine, but I made sure I had enough put away to replace all gaskets and seals, get a tune up and compression check, and change out my timing belt and water pump. Just whenever you are putting away money for mods, take about 10 to 20% of that and put it away for repairs and maintenance. That way you can never go wrong, and always have that "OH **** A TURBO KIT FOR HOW MUCH!" money just in case!
