couldnt running that way also cause damage to the car as well?? plus, backpressure is a good thing when it comes to horsepower too, which running without pipe and muffler would cause u to lose backpressure, so running this way would just be silly, wouldnt u say Matt

I have heard that it could pit the pistons and burn up valves, yes. I am not a mechanic that is only what I have heard.
Backpressure is NOT a good thing when it comes to HP.
True, if he ran W/O a header or any exhaust for that matter he would not have any backpresure.
So yes, running this way would be silly, and I did say.

do u take it an inch at a time too??? j/k, if backpressure is not a good thing for horsepower, why use an H pipe for true duals, it regulates backpressure, so wouldnt some backpressure be a good thing?

The "H" pipe helps to equalize the exhaust pulses. That way bot sides are scavenging at the same rate.

You called it an "OEM-Style" it is not. It is the EVO and it is multi-functional. What I mean is I use it for a cheese grater when cooking Italian food. The "nonfunctional" ram air inlets are totally functional. A lot of air travels threw them, they are for cosmetic appeal. I do not have a CAI, my intake is a short ram. (Once again know your parts.) My flashy big tip muffler is a BORLA, it probably cost more than you spend in an entire year at Dominoes.

So with that it appears that not only do you need to further your education at the track but on car parts and accessories.

You could have easily said "the car will suck, you'll have no bottom end....etc" in your first reply. I guess you really wanted to bump up your post count or something just like everyone else who posted garbage one-liners in this thread.

You misunderstood my statement about the hood. Obviously the OEM-style hood wouldn't have any ram-air inlets or vents. What I meant was an OEM-style carbon fiber hood itself is already rice, but a carbon fiber hood with nonfunctional inlets for your CAI (as listed in your mods profile) is even more rice. Even with your short-ram, the inlets probably just let more dirt and bugs into your engine bay on the freeway.

Don't assume I don't know my car parts just because you need some help with your English grammar.

I'm done with this whole forum since a simple question results in 100 garbage posts and only a few useful posts. My only posts from now on will be limited to the "for sale" forums. Good luck with your utterly useful "rep points" and reaching your 2000 posts mark. I'm sure it'll be one of the biggest accomplishments of your life.

a buddy of mine ran 17.093 best time with h/i/e at LACR three weeks in a row, so a week later we took the cat and exhuast off and his best time was 16.957 so i did help him. By the way LACR is above sea level so thats why the times are kinda of ****

1. The whole backpressure issue is a myth in non-high performance engines. I've heard the 'burning the exhaust valves' before but I know of many who run cut-outs at the track with no issues.

2. Low-end TQ will go down, but high-end HP will go up. You'd prolly see a better gain in conjuction with removing any unneccessary weight.

3. I don't think your gains would warrant all the trouble it would be to removed your collector. I'd look into investing in a cutout first. There are mechanical cut-outs and capped cut-outs that are relatively inexpensive.

...sigh. I just read this whole thing for the first time. Another member bites the dust because they can't take the heat. Oh well.

I imagine running an open header would cause problems after time, but it might have been worth a shot to try it on the track.
