Running open header for the track.
I’m hitting up the drag strip in about 2 weeks. I was wondering if it was a good idea to run open header (remove everything from the header back). I’m going to be wearing earplugs to save my hearing lol but my question is would this cause a loss of horsepower or reduction of my ETs? My current mods are a K&N FIPK and DC sports header. Thanks
Re: Running open header for the track.
wat kind of dc sports header.. the race header?? wait regardless, thats a waste of time. im guessing u have a d17 as well, which is literally USELESS.. open header will just be loud, ricerish, and ull lose a shitload of low end and high end power... dont do it. shed sum pounds off the car and make sure ur car has had a good service be4 hand.. go with a quarter tank of gas, i duno

I'm almost always here, but dont have mod power over every thread so I just have to twiddle my thumbs at mod-needed posts in other forums.
In responce to the OP... do several runs- average run with it on, average with it off... which is quicker?

Why do you have to knock on me for taking my car to the track? No sh*t civics are slow in the straight line Einstein. Something wrong with having a good time, gaining some track experience and practicing launching and shifting along the way?
As for your hypocritical ricer comment about the green dash, I wouldn't even want to mention "rice" if I were you. An oem-style carbon fiber hood is rice enough not to mention you got some nonfunctional ram air inlets for your CAI and a flashy big chrome tip MUFFLER.
Yeah I'm Mr. "No Posts" but I can bet you got all your thousand posts from sarcastic postwhoring and posting "No way, I don't have the time."
Thanks, I was going to pay per run but I'm going to see if they have a certain day where they have a flat fee for unlimited runs. Gotta get my poly motor mounts first so I can get rid of the wheelhop.

Not knocking you for tracking your car, I am knocking you for wanting to run it W/O a header. The car will suck, you will have no bottom end at all. Your 60' time will be a joke.
Nothing wrong with having a good time and gaining some track experience. I am all for furthering ones knowledge of there car and how it performs.
The green dash was in reply to wanting to run open header. That was a ricer move.
Now to my Ricer hood.
When making fun of ones hood, at least know what you are making fun of.
You called it an "OEM-Style" it is not. It is the EVO and it is multi-functional. What I mean is I use it for a cheese grater when cooking Italian food. The "nonfunctional" ram air inlets are totally functional. A lot of air travels threw them, they are for cosmetic appeal. I do not have a CAI, my intake is a short ram. (Once again know your parts.) My flashy big tip muffler is a BORLA, it probably cost more than you spend in an entire year at Dominoes.
So with that it appears that not only do you need to further your education at the track but on car parts and accessories.
