Re: 01 to 05 center console

yea, it will fit. mine is a '01 and i got a used '05 from ebay. it bolted right on. but the thing is it came with an e-brake and shifter so i just took off the old one. chnage your e-brake and shifetr and you're fine.

Re: 01 to 05 center console

I thought the ebrake handle was larger on the 01's....

The 03+ has a small area to slide the ebrake though. I'm not sure if it matters but it's food for thought

I can't see why they would be any different. It's not like the shifter location moved

Re: 01 to 05 center console

ok, here's what i came up with whem i went to do it. the shifter assembly looks exactly the same on the 01 auto and an 05 auto. the brackets that you screw into on the consoles are different. on the 05 there are 3 screws inside the armrest, and the brackets underneath come up a few inches to meet the bottom of the armrest cubbyhole thingy. the 01, having no armrest, screws into a bracket closer to the floor and at the back/bottom of the console, near the cupholder.

i was doing a 05 into an 01. the part that was holding it off center was the brackets that you scre into. from what i could tell, it just looked like on thing needed to be changed. that was the brackets to screw the 05 console into, they also hold the ebrake cable( where the two cables come to the one that is attached to the handle) the end

Re: 01 to 05 center console

im actually in the process of doing this swap too... i have a 01 lx and just got a 05 ex console... w/out knowing what i was doing, i dive right into it and found out the 01 e-brake doesnt fix correct w/ the new console... its too far back to where the hole for e-brake to sit out of the console... i have to either realign my ebrake or something to it... as for the shift ****, i need the newer 05 one because its shaped differently too... it wouldnt look uniform w/ my old shift ****...

at this point, i might just grab a new ebrake for the 05 and install that in or just realign my old ebrake and try that out... im not really sure about my ebrake install since i dont want to mess it up and not have that function available so any suggestion on how to remove & install a new one would be appreciated...

the feel of having the arm rest & cupholder cover is really really nice.. i enjoy it better than having all those open to the public exposing what you got going on in your car...

hope that helps w/ these questions...
