Resetting the Computer?

Does restartting the computer better for the car? Cause I heard that if you let your car idle for 10 min, turn it off and take the fuse for the computer out for like 2 mins. Then start the car and let it idle for another 10 mins, and then turn it off and start it again. After, start driving it for a bit... I heard it's suppose to run smoother after installing any mods... Sorry if it doesn't make any sense...

I do it after I install certain mods such as Intake, header, and exhaust. Don't know if it helps or not but I guess it can't hurt

Are those the right steps for setting the computer though? Or am I doing it in the wrong order? I also heard that you can do it by unplugging the battery...

I do this if I do any mods that have to do with the cars engine, Intake, exhaust, ect ... All I do is disconnect the battery and then pull the fuse for the computer and let it drain down then after a few min I put it all back together and then start it up and let it run for a bit.

with the newer cars you cant reset the computer with out a scanner, with older cars you could unhook the battery and touch the cables, unhook the battery and pull the fuse, but not on ours if you set a code in the computer you have to have it removed by a shop or someone with a scanner because its in the memory...................

i work in a shop and get that ? a lot

I have a question also.
What i was told was;
Resetting the computer makes it "forget" what it has learned about your driving. It goes back to the default tables stored in it & then from the new data, "learns" how to change to more suitable A/F mixtures, timing etc.. Obviously it needs to relearn when you change some stuff on the car. Everyone reccomends doing this after any mods, but if the computer is "learning" all the time, won't it adjust from it's present state also?

Just disconnect the battery for 10 min. That will reset the ECU. IT will forget somethings, but not everything. Besides it will "relearn" again.
