Anyone know if there is any way to fit a RSX Injen intake into a Civic Ex? Any response would be appreciated, TIA.
No, it's not going to work.
And why do it? All intakes are made the same, it's just a pipe with an air filter attached to it. Just because the RSX's engine gets gains from the intake doesn't mean that a Civic's engine will show the same gains. It's utterly useless to try such a thing. The RSX engines are way less restrictive to modifications than a D-series Civic engine.
Don't even try it... in fact... forget the idea. You should be able to tell by just looking at an RSX with an intake a comparing it to a Civic.

The reason I am trying is because I am trying to save up for a K engine swap into my civic, but I kinda want something for my engine mod right now...So I want to see if i can put the RSX intake into the D serie engine. I mean I am going to buy the RSX intake anyways after the swap, so if i can use it now,, why not buy it now. I know it has more gains than our intake, but I am not really doing it because of it.
Thanks for the reply

(keep them coming) I say just leave your engine stock and keep all the money for the K-motor.
An intake is just going to make the car produce more sound than power... in fact, you'll lose a little power. If you want to feel some gains, you're gonna have to spend a bit more if your current budget fits the price of an intake.
Otherwise, personally I only like the intake because of the sound it produces on a D17A2 engine... or an EX Civic.

Heh, my real question remains if the RSX intake will ever fit into a Civic Ex? Not that sound or gain doesn't matter, but I just want to see if it fits first. Thx
It's not. First of all, it's not going to fit because the intakes are specifically made to bolt up in an engine bay a certain way for each car. 2nd, the length of the intake decides where the air filter will be and that varies for every car. 3rd, the RSX's intake manifold is located in a totally different area resulting in a totally different design for the intake. Trust me, you might as well buy an RSX header and try fitting it on there, you'll just get the same results.

The position of the throttle body should tell you everythnig... the RSX is in the front and is mounted sideways, Civics are inthe back and vertically mounted... with out the 90 degree bend, you won't clear the hood... none of the RSX intakes have a 90 degree bend in them since its not needed... and none of the mounting points for the brackets are going to be the same, and the intake is designed to run to the opposite side of the car... the RSX injen CAI runs to the left corner, while the Civic goes to the right... if you try to run anything down the left side of the engine bay, you'll hit the reservoirs, the ABS controller, and the accessory belt.
Just drop it, its not going to happen. Either leave it stock, buy a K&N drop in, or buy an AEM short ram for the $85 or whatever adventon.com charges for it.

oh mine...never knew its that impossible. Anyone think I can actually put the RSX intake into my civic? I am planning to get a 90 degree bent attachment for the intake if it doesn't work alone. any suggestions?

no matter how much everybody curses honda for the D17, you have to remember that it is more than before in a non-si civic stock. the engine is HIGHLY effcient as well.
I give up.
You want to do all of this for an intake? Are you okay? You might as well buy a pipe and make the intake yourself and let it bend however way you want it. Obviously no one else has done it on this site so... good luck with doing it!
You drive a Honda Civic. A cheap car with cheap performance from tire to camshaft.

why did honda put so much restriction on D17 ? what the f**k man !!!
Ok, I'll give you a less smart-*** reply.
The Honda Civic is all about fuel economy & burning clean air. The more you make an engine geared towards burning clean air, the less responsive it is to modifications. However, some people have been able to break some of those barriers with replacing the plastic intake manifold with an aluminum one, and removing the cat converter to run a straight pipe/highf low cat as these stock parts contribute in why the car is restrictive. It doesn't solve every issue with the engine but people do feel some gains.

Also I doubt that most of us buy our Civics for its performance, and I personally just bought it for its versatility of upgrades.

More than the pipe, the air filter is everything.
I still think it's too much work for just an intake. It's like that AEM V2 ****. I just learned it comes with a replacable motor mount for the 99-00 Si so it can fit. If you have to do that much just for a pipe, and an air filter, then you're putting too much energy in it whether you like what the engine does or not ALL intakes are the same.
