Torque Convertor Question

What does it do? What kind of difference would you notice when you add one? Do they make them for our cars (mine being a 02 coupe AT)?

all it does is let your brake launch at a higher RPM instead of it only going to 2700 RPM you can go to i think 3500-4000 RPM

Torque convertor is part of an automatic transmission. It's the link between the engine and transmission. Compared to a manual tranny, the nature of a torque convertor results in some loss.

I have heard that if you have a AT, upgrading your torque convertor is the best thing to do. Please inform me of knowledgable data

It converts the power from your engine to the tranny internals and driveline. Its sorta like a manual tranny clutch but based off of fluid coupling instead of a pressure plate. A higher stall TC will allow you to spool up more power and rpms before you launch.

there would be if there were any power at the crank. e.g. if you've done a swap and/or turbo (and want an auto for some reason), a torque converter would be a good next choice to increase power to the wheels.
