Painting trim peices question

I searched but I didn't find any answers.
Has anyone finished off their painting with a clear coat. I see the DIY doesn't say whether or not it is a good idea.
What do you guys think?
Anybody done it?

Thanks!!!!!!!!

yes, it gives it a nice protective, shiny coat. You should clear coat.

You have to give it a good amount of time between the paint and the clear coat and you have to make sure that thye clear coat is ok for the type of paint your using, but it should work fine. Saves you from having to re-paint any time soon.

I say Go with at lease a couple coats of clear coat. But again that's just My Opinion.

EDIT: make sure to use a few light coats of clear not fewer heavy coats.

Good Luck All!

Ok, the long and short of it all is that if you use spray paint, it's very thin, very cheap quality. Think about it, look at the tip of a spray can. It has a tiny opening in it which doesn't allow much paint to flow out of it therefore the paint is very thin. That's why you will see runs much more often with this type of paint and that's why it's so inexpensive. It works for a while but eventually if your car is a daily driver, there will be some damage to the paint. Now one way to solve the problem is to use a good spray gun and some professional interior paint and well prep the surface, finishing it up with some pro quality clear for interior as well. Granted you may still see damage after alot of wear but not nearly like you will if you use a spray can. Another thing you can do is just use the spray can and follow it up with some professional quality clear coat for interiors.

Now you can get the job done just by using spray cans but ask anyone who's done this on a daily driver and ask them how well it's held up or whether or not they've had to repaint it. My bet is that the consensus is that it hasn't held up very well or it's been resprayed. So it comes down to the question of asking yourself if you'd rather not spend much money and have a mediocre paint job that you always worry about or you can spend a few bucks and get it done right. Good luck with it.
