I was thinking the same thing. They are not as fast as the type s, but with a few mods and a stronger torgue converter it maybe worth while. For like have the price, plus I think the sport shift is pretty cool. I found this tranny and engine on clubrsx for like $1500. I am really thinking about doing it. Money issues, you know.

Much agreed, 6 speed would be nice. Sport shift just isn't as fun....

the money it would take to get the engine swapped most people would rather spend the extra to get the extra 40 Hp

K20A3s:
-redline at 6700 not 8000
-have intake only VTEC, it engages at 2300 and only 1 intake valve is variable
-have Electric assist power steering, where as the K20A2 and K20A has Hydraulic assist, which we also have
-Automatics are not as fun as 6 speeds
-The swap still costs the same excluding the difference in engine costs... so the extra 40 or 60 HP is worth it.

In the EXTREMELY rare event that the bell housings are identical, which I don't think they would be because the engines sit on opposite sides of the engine bay, consequently the transmissions sit on opposite sides of the engine, it might be possible. But the cards are against you on this one. You'd also have to fool the Civic ECU into thinking the car has sport shift, since you need the D17 engine management. You might as well just put the motor in too, because it would be a biznatch to swap just the tranny if it were even possible.
