Sucessful headlight clearing, but.......
so this weekend I cleared my headlights, after over a year of wanting to do it and either not having the time or the ***** on that particular day. So I got the headlights out, put them in the oven, baked them, and pried them apart to clear them. Put them back together fine, got them in, put the bumper reattached and bam, a job well done. So I thought. So I'm driving down the road and my left headlight starts winking in and out, so I have a loose ground somewhere probably. Or maybe the hot wire is loose. It doesn't do it all the time, just enough to **** me off. Since I don't like it, and since it might start a small electrical fire, it needs to be fixed. So has anyone else had this problem or am I just a moron? Second question, does anyone have a diagram of which wire is which on the H4 plug? Any help would be appreciated since my voltohm meter is 300 miles away.
Thanks

it might just be the light buld it self. like a house light bulb, when the filimint breaks it will still work if touching the other end, but will flicker ifits bumped. try throwing the other bulb in fron the other side and giggling the wires and see if it still does it.
I spent 1425 points to do this.

do you have a coupe or a sedan. a coupes are easy you don't even need the oven, but the sedans are a b!tch i kinda took some chrome off when i cleaned the glue off the one i meesed up a little. but its all good cause i am painting them right now and they look hella tight i will post a pic when i am done. if you have a sedan i can give you some good tips so you dont get the glue on the chrome part
I just cleared my headlights yesterday it took me about 30 minutes to take apart both headlights. I was being very careful though because i didnt want to break anything. In the end I used dap silicone to seal them I think it turned out good I will have to wait till its a little warmer to know if the seal worked good. But in the end the total project was a

there is a diy in the diy section on how to clear your headlights. its not too difficult having no clue what i was doing it took me about 1hour and a half. only problem was i didnt seal ne all the way so it started to condinsate. i just got done resealing and hoping that it is fixed. another hint is that you dont have to take the bumper off all the way. just take off the top part and let the bottom screws or clips hold it there. you can move it around ebough to get to the bolts under the lights.

hey i've been wanting to clear my headlights ever since i became a member of this forum, which hasn't been that long. i just cant find the time to do it. since i got a coupe and since you guys here say that it's easier to take a part the healight, will i be needing the kitchen silicone to stick it back together? and will i have to jack up the car as the DIY says? or can i remove the bumper without jacking up the car?

adadani2001 the silicon is a good idea just as a failsafe against leaking. I reheated the glue and put mine back together but I ran a thin bead of silicon just to make sure they were sealed. You don't have to jack up the car either. Just remove the clips that are around the top of the grill and the screws in the top of the bumper in the fenderwell. then pull the bumper off gently and voila, access to the headlights. Just don't pull on the grill to hard or you might seperate it from the bumper a little, not a big deal to snap back but a hassle all the same.
