vafc check engine light
any new developments on this issue? i just installed mine and had a friend turn off the check engine light for me with his diagnostic tool thing, but when i leave the car off for about an hr, the light turns back on. when the light is off everything works, i got vtec to engage at like 4200rpm and off at 3000rpm. other than the engine light turning on and limiting me to 4000rpm, everything works great. the weird thing is that the light doesn't turn on for a few sec when i start my car after it sitting for an hour.
I have the same probloms, i dont know how to fix it. is it causing any damage to the engine because of the 4000 rpm redline? i called apexi and they said they havn't heard of that problom and didnt tell me how to fix it. how did you set your vtec engagement points so low? this guy told me to have it dynoed ? i dont remember why, i think to get it tuned right.
Its a celebration bitches!

yup i have the exact same problem that you have... if you turn on your car and it limits your car at 4000 just park, turn it off for 20-30 seconds witht he key out then turn it back on, it should reset the comp, and not get the limiter, the only time the V-afc works right is when it is warm out side, the light doesn't go on... go figure

could you explain your "temp fix" a little better? how does taking your key out for 20-30secs do anything?
I went to this performance shops that build cars for magazines, he told me that the vafc controller was hooked up wrong. i told hime what was happening such as the 4000 rev limiter when the engine is cold and that alot of people are having the same problom. He told me alot of people connect it wrong and that it could do serious damage to the car, even blow it. so right now its in the shop and he is going to rewire it, i will have it back tomorrow and let you know if its fixed or not.

cool let us know, btw it won't blow up our car because its giving a vtec solenoid error code in cold starts because the solenoid goes crazy when the engine is cold. my buddy mods cars for like 10 years and he says it's alright, but should be fixed as soon as possible.
