Abnormal speedometer behavior

Hey guys,
I was driving on the highway today and something really weird happened. I was going around 70 mph and all of a sudden I see my needle just fall to about the 50 mph range and then jump back up to where it was. It happened within one second - it just bounced down and up. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it normal? WTF is going on here? I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw it happen. Someone help. Thanks.

You drive a sedan i assume from the sig pic? I had a sedan and it did teh same thing to me once in a great while. If its not a consistent thing i say dont worry, all electronics have minor glitches.

For 2 years i drove around a car that had a fuel gauge completely innacurate even after "fixing" it twice under warranty. i would only get about 40 miles and the gauge would say i had 3/4 of a tank left, then i would finally get to 145 or 150 and it would tell me i had half a tank left. go figure?

I also had a problem ALL the time when weather cooled down with my tach. I would let off the gas and the tach would fall dangerously close to the (100 - 0) rpm zone then jump back up to around (500 - 700) rpm, yet i could distinctly tell my engine was running fine. the gauge was weird, not my engine rpm.

funny you posted about this, i just changed the speedometer two days ago because on the way to my last oil change, i was supposedly going 20mph when i was at a complete stop. real good luck it happened on the way to my oil change, ordered the speedometer, and changed it two days ago along with an oil change. glad it was covered by warranty (didn't pay a cent) and i now have 20 miles
