Motor Swap Question...
Hey does anyone know if the old b16a2 from the 99-00 Si will swap correctly into the new 7th Gens? I know people tell me just to swap the k20 but...price is lot diff...I mean a b16 with tranny might run you like 2-4K with swap, so let me know if motor mounts fit etc..or would it need lots of work...also...does anyone know if it is possible to just put the DOHC Head onto the EX block d17? kinda like an LS VTEC deal...? b.c. I heard the d17 is pretty strong block just not all that great in performance let me know a good way to get great hp for cheap besides turbo etc....

Youre going to need just as much work, if not more, for a B16 swap.
Not to mention the fact that it's illegal, and no shop will probably do it anyways.

a) it's illegal to put an engine that is older than the car into that car. you can only swap an engine that is newer than the chassis
b) the b engines are not drop in swaps for the 7th gen civic, so it would take MORE work than the K20 for custom mount work, and you'd end up paying about the same amount of money for an older, weaker engine
c) you can only swap heads that are common to the series of engine (B to B, D to D, K to K, etc.) and sometimes not even then. therefore, you can't put the DOHC B head onto the SOHC D block. you can only swap the DOHC VTEC head onto an LS cause it was a B engine to begin with.
d) the best way to get a lot of HP for "cheap" would be a nitrous system - 50 shot for around $700, or $2000 with all the bells and whistles. a turbo for the 7th gen would have to be custom, so once again you're looking at major money, 4-5 g's, maybe more. i guess the money all comes down to what you can afford though.

There's some places in the US where its not illegal or where they just don't check (like in my case) and if someone has an extra b-series motor lying around maybe it's not such a bad idea. Wasn't some guy trying to do this awhile back? From Japan or something??
But as for the question your probably going to have to get mounts made for it, probably some axles too, not to mention converting to a returnline system and all the wiring/ecu stuff. It's probably a lil more complicated then that but we'll never know unless someone tries it.

I do believe that's a federal law.... meaning it's illegal everywhere. It has to do with crash regulations and emissions control.
