problem w/ brakes, need help fast!!!

Hey I just replaced my brake pads with some wagner quiet stop ones. My drivers side pad was allmost completely worn away so I had no choice but to buy cheap pads as a "quick fix" untill this weekend then Ill buy some good ones. Heres the problem I have almost no stopping power and smoke pours of my brakes when I slow down from over 50mph. I "bedded" them in by making many slow gental stops at about 20 mph first. Any sugestions? b/c the car realy isnt safe to drive like this.

you might of tightened the bolt back down too tight or might have too much pressure in the brake system . try unscrewing the brake cap and then putting it back on also your fluid might be low since you reaplced your brakes so check that and lastly try just redoing the brake install. and not tighten them as much if the were over tightened. or one thing they might not be on all the way or even the wrong pads all together.

hey rice burner did you bleed the brake system??? maybe you should do what the other guy said and redo the installation of the pads. but you really shouldnt have this problem if you didnt take the caliper off or anything to let air into the brake system. well...good luck!

How does your brake pedal feel? Spongy? If so you need to bleed your brakes as you might have air in the lines. I cant understand why your brakes would smoke from a high speed stop. Maybe the first couple of times or if you got some fluid on the pads. But it shouldnt happen every time. If you cracked the bleeder, make sure you tightened it back up. If you need to bleed your brakes and dont have someone to help you push the pedal, look into getting a brake bleeding kit. I bought one recently from MityVac for about 35 bucks. Works great and is more accurate then the old two-person method.
