jet ecu upgrade and nitrous
Please only reply if you have some knowledge to offer, I dont need to hear I will blow up my car or anything like that, so If you dont have nitrous setup in your ride, dont post!!!
I have my nx wet kit installed now (50 short) , and a aem cam gear installed set to 1 degree retard. This seems to work for street and squeezing. The neg. retard upped the top end a little bit and doesnt appear to be detremental, and of course the nx kicks *** with low end.
If I get the jet ecu upgrade, It is my understanding they achieve performance gains by changing the fuel parameters and advancing the ignition timing, what will this do to my car when squeezing. It is my understanding that going into advance with NX will cause detonation. Anyone have experience with this setup??? Jet didnt offer much help, said they dont play with nitrous too much- he did mention something about a msd ignition retarder, but wouldnt that just cancel out the gains of the ecu upgrade??

retarding timing does 2 things and 2 things only. it reduces the chance of detonation, and it reduces power. Any "gain" you feel top end wise, is most likely a placebo effect. ie its not actually helping.
Like i said before i dont reccomend retarding the timing anytihing above or below stock for just a 50 shot, its not necessary, and is robbing you of 3 to 5 BHP.
the JET ECU works by advancing timing curve and adjusting the fuel/02 map. DONT USE THIS FOR NITROUS. I know you said you dont want to hear it, but yes, you will end up "blowing up" your engine like that. if you want to change out the ECU save up for a standalone ECU system such as Hondata.

ya, you don't want to run lean which is what will happen with that jet chip since it'll advance your timing. Just get a fuel pressure regulator and up the fuel pressure then set your timing back to normal that way you stay nice and rich when you hit the juice.

Oh ya, try gapping your plugs a little wider than stock too to up the spark size to try to get a bigger flame front and you might want to "nitrous-prep" them too while they're out by filing them back in a half moon shape over the center electrode...
