Fixing the rattle
So I've been reading through all the posts about taking care of the rear deck rattle, and my dealer is being the typical *** holes they are, saying that now that the window was tinted, it's not warrantied anymore cuz someone else took it out. So screw it, I'm fixing it.
Those of you who fixed it, what did you use? I have some foam insulating strips laying around that I can use, or I can prolly go to the stereo store and get some of the stuff they sell there (Dynomat, I think?). And does anyone have any suggestions of where to put it? Around the speakers, all over the place, I keep hearing that the rattle comes from under the 3rd brake light, not sure what that means, but whatever. What did you guys use to fix it, and did it work?

the DIY says tell you to tighten the lach, well that's not the way, beause i did that too and it wasnt working for me.
so i got the idea off of somebody from this forum. He told me to get an "old shock" and open your trunk and go under look for a gap
between the rear parking light (the one behind the rear windshield) and stick your shock in as in as possible, but not too far in. then it should work, well it worked for me.
hope this helps and good luck

is this a rattling from loud music, or is this just the rattling from going over tiny bumps. I get rattling like that to sometimes and it very very small.... rattling while driving over bumps. but either way, good luck

I found that my speaker wires were rattlinf under my rear deck cause of the weight of the wires they would sway, hitting the metal bar under the deck. Stuff some foam in there or buy a dynomat trunk setup
If its rattling from driving over roads the dealer is SUPPOSED to fix it with a service bulletin if you're within the first year adjustment period. Thats what I've been told, but my dealer wouldn't do it because of my speakers and because my rattles are more from music. I think it was spoiledsteph that suggested this to me, and it should work well, take like carpet pading or foam strips and spray adhesive and stick it to the rear deck underneath anywhere there is contact, or anywhere you think there is rattling. Good Luck

Doesn't this rattle come from the 3rd Brack light hitting the window?
<from info given by CivicVTEc> I'll try to do that. Only other way i can think about is by putting some towels on the back.

Well, I found the problem... the tint idiots did not put the deck back in right. I can look up and see one of the white pegs bent sideways and not in the hole. Prolly the problem. Now I'm debating whether to just fix it, or make them fix it.

All fixed. The deck took like 2 hours to do (apart and re-assemble). Whoever designed the panels to go together like that should be taken out in the back and shot. It's rediculous that the whole rear interior has to come out. Once I got it out, I found 2 clips missing, and one bent over, not in the hole. So I replaced them with ones off the back pillar, and put the deck back in right. No more rattles! Now I just have to go to the Honda dealer and pick up the clips so I can re-attach the left side roof pillar. I also took the opportunity to re-do the insulation around the rear side windows. Those little tiny foam strips are worthless. So I replaced them with 5/8" closed cell foam.
